Проверил на: kworkstation-10-x86-64 обновленной до Sisyphus
Версия: 3.4.0-alt3

Шаги воспроизведения:
1. Подключить сканер по USB/сети
2. Открыть gimagereader-qt5 
3. Параметры сканирования ADF Duplex
4. Сканировать 

Ожидаемый резлуьтат: двустороннее сканирование выполнено успешно
Реальный результат: Unable to read frame from device: Invalid argument (в терминале), в GUI (см. скриншот).

По поводу двустороннего сканирования gimаgеreader выяснили, что нет поддержки в апстриме https://bugzilla.altlinux.org/43745#c3
